Welcome to IPPSA
IPPSA is a forum for dialogue among Alberta's power producers and a proponent of competition in Alberta's electricity market.
From 2001 to 2011, Alberta’s open market has added 5400 MW of new supply. (Compare this to SaskPower’s entire 3500MW). That’s a 40% net increase to the province’s generation capacity. This new, competitive supply has met the fastest growing demand for power in Canada and has created a downward pressure on wholesale power prices.
From 2001 to 2011, wholesale prices have increased by less than 10%.
IPPSA provides value to its members by:
- engaging in policy deliberations
- promoting the benefits of the market
- hosting its very popular annual conference
